Thank you for everyone's suggestions.
Yes, I also believe this minor issue should not block the RC0 voting process. Now I fully agree with Stamatis' point that placing the release notes in the archives is a burden for the release manager, who would need to constantly remind themselves to update the release notes. However, I think the release notes in the archives package are likely rarely noticed by users. Most users probably browse the release notes directly on the JIRA website or through the JIRA change log for this release (such as [1]) provided on the Hive website [2]. Additionally, I noticed that Apache Hadoop and Apache Spark do not include release notes in their archives either. They only publish the release notes on their respective websites—see Hadoop's site [3] and Spark's site [4]. Therefore, since we already have the release notes on the Hive site, I personally think it’s unnecessary to continue adding the same release notes to the archives. This would avoid requiring the release manager to update them every time and reduce unnecessary release work. I’ve created a ticket [5] to consider removing the release notes from the archives. If there are further thoughts, please feel free to share them. Thank you. As I commented elsewhere I wouldn't mind skipping it completely. From my perspective the best is to have good release notes on the website and I don't really mind for anything else. The release notes should ideally be comprehensive and list all relevant tickets, but missing a few entries shouldn't, in my opinion, justify a -1 on the RC. That feels excessive. From my experience, spinning up a new RC is typically warranted when there's something broken in the code or if there are legal compliance issues. For smaller matters, it's generally up to the Release Manager to decide — especially if there are multiple minor issues to consider. That's my view, of course — we operate as a community, and others may have a different take. But this alone wouldn't stop me from voting +1 if everything else looks good. –Ayush On Mon, 14 Jul 2025 at 19:04, Butao Zhang <zhangbu...@apache.org> wrote: Hi, Hive dev Okumin just discovered several tickets such as [1] that were not updated in status but had their PRs merged. These tickets were not included in the release notes. I'd like to ask whether this situation will affect the vote for Hive 4.1.0 Release Candidate 0?
