Let me ask the question slightly differently. The
hive-standalone-metastore-4.1.0-bin.tar.gz can be generated directly
through apache-hive-4.1.0-src.tar.gz that is released at the same
time. What's the point of having
hive-standalone-metastore-4.1.0-src.tar.gz which actually duplicates
the content inside apache-hive-4.1.0-src.tar.gz?

As a reminder in all ASF releases [1] the primary artifact is source
code. The bin.tar.gz archives are always considered as "convenience
binaries" and are entirely optional.
