Let me ask the question slightly differently. The hive-standalone-metastore-4.1.0-bin.tar.gz can be generated directly through apache-hive-4.1.0-src.tar.gz that is released at the same time. What's the point of having hive-standalone-metastore-4.1.0-src.tar.gz which actually duplicates the content inside apache-hive-4.1.0-src.tar.gz?
As a reminder in all ASF releases [1] the primary artifact is source code. The bin.tar.gz archives are always considered as "convenience binaries" and are entirely optional. Best, Stamatis [1] https://infra.apache.org/release-distribution.html#release-content
