Edward Capriolo commented on HIVE-3491:
---------------------------------------
It is just as likely to get completed as any other issue. Though logically
issue is somewhat interesting. A function in the conventional sense is
something gets passed inputs between (), but this issues is acting a function
to be not a function by accessing a context and possibly implementing logic
that is not functional. (I really do not mind this case) but it seems to me if
the user wants to pass the column name into a function they can without help
from hive.

> If I run
> SELECT MY_FUNC(a.foo, b.bar) FROM baz1 a JOIN baz2 b;
> ...the parsed query structure (i.e., that "foo" and "bar" are the name of the
> columns) should be available to the UDF in some manner.
