I encountered this error while running a test fires metastore calls from
approximately ten threads at the same time.

I have seen this same exception mentioned several times before on the Hive
mailing list, and it also looks like folks are encountering this while running
the JPA performance benchmark:

At this point I can't tell if this is a bug with DataNucleus, or if Hive is
using DN incorrectly.
