I think mapred.max.split.size is still effective in hadoop2, though deprecated.
Though not confirmed but I guess what has changed is if you ask for # of files
in a dir or a size of dir, then that is now reported by adding those up
recursively. If so, then comment is not correct. [~navis] can you verify this?
If need be can you also then update the comments in testcase.
