Actually, I cannot repro the fail you are mentioning on latest trunk. I did

ant test -Dtestcase=TestCliDriver -Dmodule=ql -Dqfile=join32_lessSize.q
-Dhadoop.mr.rev=23

and I got:

So, I am not sure what is there to fix.
