[~jpullokkaran], the same argument can be used on the opposite. If this is
turned on by default, then the code path with CBO off, which is probably more
dominant in the near future, will not get exercised.
I think the argument is a matter of testing methodology, regardless on/off. We
have many on/off features, testing is a challenge but can be solved with
testing framework. As to the default value, Hive has a tradition of defaulting
off for sometime to allow the feature to evolve, such as the case of
vectorization.
