Well, first off, here are some kdumps on this:

ktrace.dump.abs.gz - kdump'd output with absolute timestamps
ktrace.dump.rel.gz - kdump'd output with relative timestamps
ktrace.out.gz      - raw ktrace file

One thing I noticed is that shutdown(2) looks very expensive.
This is definitely something that was changed in the 2.0.29
cycle when rbb pulled out all of the MPM/lingering close code.

I captured the entire process group.  I imagine you can do some 
awk/grep magic with the absolute timestamped version to get 
relative syscall times for each process.  

Perhaps Brian or someone else can do some analysis with this.
I'm out of time for tonight.  Hopefully, these data sets can
