I'd like to see how to tweak the .rc files/build to make it easy to identify the files properly -- what is the underlying open source project/version, where did you get them. IOW, route the credit and liability to the appropriate, different places. That's a good thing for everybody.
E.g., bundler uses CompanyName=Internet Widgits Pty Ltd ProductName=WidgetStack ProductVersion=1.0.3 ProductVersionNumber=1.0.3.0 and leaves the rest alone e.g., FileVersion=2.4.6 FileVersionNumber=2.4.6.0 FileDescription=Apache HTTP Server Core or FileVersion=1.5.2 FileVersionNumber=1.5.2.0 FileDescription=Apache Portable Runtime Utility Library LegalCopyright and Comments such as "Licensed under the Apache License..." are also interesting; IANAL ;) A bundler may want the comments to have a statement clarifying that the file is a component of &product;, originally obtained from &ossproject; and possibly including fixes and enhancements not originally in that oss version, and supported through &product; support channels. -- Born in Roswell... married an alien... http://emptyhammock.com/
