Anaximandro de Godinho commented on IBATIS-402:
-----------------------------------------------

Hi Jeff,

About item 1 and 3, I don't think DTP dependencie is a problem, it will
really make the whole idea simpler. At least here (Brazil) this is a common
plugin and is very hard to find a web developer without it.

2, I'm weak in extension points, I know the main concept (IOC) but I don't
know the right way to use it. HMO this is a good option, if the guy don't
have DTP he will be able to continue using the plugin as it is today (but,
today, the plugin just write a template xml - and this could be done by a
simple copy and paste).

I saw a great amount of code to help to edit the abator xml config
file - today this is the plugin: a xml editor - I'm right?

To write this file (the abator config file) you have to know by heart your
database structure, table and column names and edit the file. This is cool
when you have just a few changes to do, when you have an entire database to
specify this is really boring!!!

4, this is the idea, but the xml will save a lot of rework when we had to
regenerate the classes. The same wizard can be used to change the xml file.

about item 3,
Are you talking about the plugin or the abator tool itself?
Why abator need to know about the DTP connection? today abator runs at the
console, right? just with the jvm, if you use this connection there it will
wire abator to dtp ...

IMO: just the plugin need that, abator is fine whithout this connection
(just its info, of corse)

Well, as you can see my english is a kind of criptogram. 8)

Right now I´m trying to get the columns from the database metadata ...
