There has been some progress. Anton has two PRs out for adding the sort spec and building a way for manifests to inherit metadata from a manifest list. Junjie has an open PR to add sequence numbers to Snapshot metadata. We could still use someone looking into the changes needed to track delete files in a manifest, as well as the formats for delete files themselves. Feel free to pick up some of those tasks!
