Base is the database module. Even if you don't want to use it yourself
directly you might use it through documents you receive. Not installing
the Base module doesn't save you much except for very few bytes of
diskstorage.
In general if you are unsure wether a specific module is useful for you
or not then it is recommended to simply follow the default installation.
