Agree. Jline3 also supports some awesome features like command history and multi-line edition, upgrading to Jline3 could be a great improvement to the user experience.

I also found that the Influxdb 1.8.9 is using ctrl-D to exit the CLI as same as the mentioned IPython. To implement this, I think it is necessary to upgrade jline2 to jline3, which is discussed in the issue[1]. Please let me know if there are other idea about it.
