The Project Management Committee (PMC) for Apache IoTDB is delighted to announce that Hongyin has joined the PMC!
Hongyin’s contributions primarily focus on system metric, consensus, memory management, and benchmark. In system metric, he led the introduction of a comprehensive metric framework into IoTDB, designing and implementing four categories of system metrics dashboards. Under his leadership, the team integrated over a thousand metrics, significantly enhancing IoTDB’s observability in distributed environments. In consensus protocol development, he fixed and optimized the IoT Consensus data replication protocol, ensuring the successful on-schedule release of IoTDB’s first official distributed version (v1.0). In memory management, he designed and implemented the system-wide memory management framework, refactoring the memory allocation process across all datanode modules. About benchmark, he refactored and has continuously maintained IoT-Benchmark, developing it into a high-performance, scalable testing framework tailored for IoT workloads. It has since become a key tool for evaluating IoTDB’s read/write performance. Over the past four years, Hongyin has contributed more than 200 commits to the codebase and has shared IoTDB’s advancements at conferences such as Community Over Code Asia. Beyond code, he embodies a pragmatic engineering spirit, actively exploring IoTDB’s application in broader domains such as business systems and file systems. We believe Hongyin’s involvement will continue to accelerate IoTDB’s growth and innovation. The PMC - Project Management Committee - manages and guides the direction of the project, and is responsible for inviting new committers and PMC members to steward the longevity of the project. See https://community.apache.org/pmc/responsibilities.html if you're interested in learning more about the rights and responsibilities of PMC members. Please join us in welcoming Hongyin to their new role in our project! Yuan Tian On behalf of the IoTDB PMC
