It was originally marked for 1.1.1 but I changed that to 1.2 since
it's an improvement rather than a bug fix and makes non-trivial
changes to the handling of node states. Thus I'd rather have it tested
in trunk for a bit longer before releasing it.
+1, it's a non-trivial change that needs further testing.
