Can we update and apply this patch? This patch improves the performance of
saving nodes with many incoming references significantly.
The compression ratio of the reference representation could be improved even
further if the reference are grouped by name.
This way, each name is written only once, which makes the representation of
references up to 5 times smaller than the current version.
