We believe we found a performance regression for imports that surfaced with the
change for JCRVLT-605 (confirmed by bi-secting).
We see a ~ 50% performance drop on IBM JVMs (Java 17), and a smaller drop on
Oracle VMs (weird, but maybe that helps understanding the issue).
(and yes, this is insufficient information; I'll try to build a test or
benchmark; the ticket was opened already so we have a single place for
discussion)
