I would say it's worth to do only in 4.x. How many files are we talking about? Can we first add the checkstyle report and evaluate the extend of the deviation from the standard?

Would it be ok to clean up the whitespace format in the jbehave sources?

Some of the sources use tabs and spaces inconsistently and also some sources have excess spaces at the end of a line, probably due to some cut'n'paste operation. I'm not a big fan of a strict source code conventions, but I would like to reformat the sources to use no tabs unless necessary in the unit tests and no trailing whitespace.

I have started writing a checkstyle config to verify just that but I thought before I get really into changing the source, I should ask if this is ok. (also should this be done to the 3.6.x version or to 4.x only?)

I can create an issue and attach the commit to that.

bye, Alexander
