Hmm...slight snag. Turns out notifications@ is not supposed to accept
email from non-ASF addresses:

when I try to use one, I get a "Must be sent from an @apache.org

only on purpose, they are not for discussions etc

I've raised https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-7213 to
hopefully get this fixed.
