Hi all,

Me and Andy were discussing in person earlier this week ideas on how we
could make TDB databases harder to corrupt in light of the continued steady
stream of emails and Q&A site posts about corrupted TDB databases. I have
written up some of our ideas as
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JENA-648 and they basically boil down
to two things:

1. Enforcing all TDB connections to be transactional with auto-commit
behaviour where explicit transactions are not used
2. Using some kind of locking mechanism to prevent multiple processes
accessing a TDB database simultaneously

Developers and users who make use of TDB are invited to take a look at the
ideas proposed in the JIRA issue where they are explained in more detail and
to add any comments they may. Please be aware these are only proposals,
there is no guarantee that we will move ahead with them or a hard timeframe
for when these might get implemented. This is just to make people aware
that this topic is under discussion and to request participation from any
interested parties.

Cheers,

Rob
