I meant for tests; the tests should continue to use the same mode as before.

That was mode=Standard, not mode=Batch.

The intention of the testfiles/*.properties files is to provide fixed
settings so the contents need to be updated if the defaults change.
Or we need to populate the file with all the defaults, but that's a bit tedious.
