One question that comes up is "where's the installer for JRuby?" This
is usually for Windows users, where setting up PATH and hooking up an
appropriate JVM location can be an exercise in pain.
So, I think we should look into having at least a Windows installer,
and possibly an installer for OS X.
A few things we'd like the installers to do (in my estimation):
* Install into a user-specific or global location
* Find an appropriate JRE/JDK or help the user download and install
one if necessary
* Set up PATH information correctly in a global or user-specific way
* Handle upgrading JRuby installations without reinstalling all gems
Who can help us put such a thing together? What platforms do we need?
Any feature you think should be included?
FWIW, we will always have tarball/zip versions of JRuby available.
