Merging the stdlib is one part of it, of course.
Anyone that wants to dive in can go for it. In many cases it will just
be removing the 1.9 compat version from bound methods, since they're
the same behavior in 1.8.7.
We'll obviously need updated stdlib, but that's not too difficult either.

OK, I've started the update process, driven by the RubySpecs. I've
pushed the whole thing as a remote branch called 187. Not sure if that
will propagate automatically to github - but otherwise people will just
have to work against kenai.
I decided to do a branch, since the breakage will be quite substantial.
