Arturo Bernal commented on JSPWIKI-90:
--------------------------------------
Checked in the current code (upstream master) and on running instances (Tomcat
10.1).
There is still no notification by e-mail of page changes or new comments.
MailUtil.sendMessage is called only from SaveUserProfileTask (the confirmation
of a registration), AuditLogger and SecurityVerificationUtility; no class
listens to page saves and mails the people to notify. In two test instances I
saved several pages, and the only mail attempts in their logs were the
registrations of test users (3 attempts, all from SaveUserProfileTask); none
happened at a page save. The mail settings exist in jspwiki.properties
(mail.from, the smtp host and port, or a JNDI session), so the sending part is
available.
The design discussed in 2009, an event listener, a per page list of user ids to
notify and the address looked up in the user database, is not implemented, so
the report stands as a feature request. Limits: I did not look at the external
plugins mentioned in the comments, and I did not try it with a working SMTP
server. Leaving the issue open.

> There should be eMail notification on changes or new comments for authors and
> people who wish to be cced, same as in Bugzilla.
> A page would have a list of users to notify for changes.
> In the "more.." menu could be an "notify me for changes", same with a
> checkbox for the new page dialog.
