I wanted to get a thread going talking about 0.8.1 release timeline. I think we should have the gradle support for 0.8.1 release.
There are a lot of open JIRAs https://issues.apache.org/jira/issues/?jql=project%20%3D%20KAFKA%20AND%20fixVersion%20%3D%20%220.8.1%22%20AND%20status%20%3D%20Open%20ORDER%20BY%20updated%20DESC%2C%20priority%20DESC Do we want to maybe break 0.8.X up into 2-3 release before 0.9? So once gradle support is in we cut that and whatever is in for that as 0.8.1 and everything still open move to 0.8.2 and scheduling that for 2 months after? 0.8.3 is 2 months after that? Do we want to target 0.9 by end of summer and 3-4 release of 0.8.X before that? Log compaction is cool for 0.8.1 as are some of the tooling and other changes we should get out and used when ready. I would like to get this https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-1180into 0.8.1 and other fixes/updates folks are looking at over the next 2-3 week before freeze. So ... target 0.8.1 ... end of January 2014 for artifacts and vote? /******************************************* Joe Stein Founder, Principal Consultant Big Data Open Source Security LLC http://www.stealth.ly Twitter: @allthingshadoop <http://www.twitter.com/allthingshadoop> ********************************************/
