Dear Kafka Developers,

My name is *Surafel Temesgen*, and I’d like to introduce you to a project
I’ve been building called *Debo*—an open-source, desktop-based
infrastructure management tool designed to provide unified control and
monitoring across components in the Hadoop ecosystem, including *Apache
Kafka*.
------------------------------
💡 What is Debo?

*Debo* is a lightweight application (written in C) that acts as a
centralized management interface for distributed systems. It supports:

   -

   *Kafka*, *Zookeeper*, *HDFS*, *YARN*
   -

   *Flink*, *Spark*, *Hive*, *HBase*
   -

And other components like Atlas, Ranger, Tez, Hue, Oozie, Pig, Presto,
   Phoenix, etc.

The idea is to reduce operational overhead by giving users a single
interface to monitor status and control services like Kafka clusters,
brokers, and optionally, consumers or topics.
------------------------------
🚀 Incubator Proposal & Community Feedback

Debo has been proposed to the Apache Incubator and is currently in need of *3
PMC sponsors* to proceed. I welcome your feedback and support on the
discussion thread here:

Despite not being incubated yet, I plan to *release a beta version in the
coming weeks*, including Kafka-related functionality and usage instructions.
------------------------------
🙏 Call for Kafka-Specific Feedback

I’m particularly interested in Kafka developers' thoughts on:

   -

What Kafka management features are most valuable in a lightweight tool
   like Debo
   -

Ideas for interacting with brokers, topics, or monitoring consumers
   -

Possible feature requests for debugging or lightweight control operations

------------------------------
📺 Learn More

I’ve set up a YouTube channel where I’ll post video tutorials and
walkthroughs:

------------------------------
🧭 Coming Soon

   -

Updated README.md with full usage instructions
   -

   Step-by-step tutorials (with Kafka examples)
   -

Beta release with early Kafka integration

------------------------------

Thank you in advance for your time and feedback. I’d love to collaborate
with the Kafka community to make Debo useful and relevant!

Warm regards,
*Surafel Temesgen*
