Naveen,

thanks for your interest. Nothing is blocking these tickets. However, I am wondering if it's worth doing this work? With KIP-1071, we are moving from client side to broker side assignment, so we will delete the corresponding client side code eventually.

To be fair: KIP-1071 is not completed yet, and there is also no timeline when we would remove "classic"; and most likely, it will only be in AK 6.0 release, so many years out.

Nevertheless, it feels a little bit like busy work?

Hi Kafka Community,

While going through Kip's that are completed, I came across the umbrella
issue KAFKA-16868 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-16868>
for code cleanup for KIP-924
<https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/spaces/KAFKA/pages/255071551/KIP-924+customizable+task+assignment+for+Streams#KIP924:customizabletaskassignmentforStreams-TaskAssignor>,
what I wanted to know is if these are currently being worked on? or are
there any blockers that I need to be aware of?

Specifically issue KAFKA-16873
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-16873> to
remove INTERNAL_TASK_ASSIGNOR_CLASS config. My plan was to deprecate this
config first then remove it later on, since the related new task assignor
is already present as part of KIP-924.

Let me know your thoughts.

Best Regards,
Naveen
