Hi Apoorv, Thanks for your comment. AM01: I did prototype this and omitted it intentionally for two reasons. First, the way that metric works is that it keeps a table of 100 such metrics for the various combinations of client software name and version. Increasing the cardinality of that table does not seem like a sensible way forward. And it's related to the second. While the broker does collect metrics, it's never going to be a fully fledged metrics database by itself. This KIP does augment the KIP-714 broker-added tags and the match criteria because that seemed like the best way to take these new concepts forward for metrics.
