Maros Orsak created KAFKA-21434:
-----------------------------------
Summary: Docker images are not able to run Streams app with RocksDB
Key: KAFKA-21434
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-21434
Project: Kafka
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: docker
Reporter: Maros Orsak
btw during testing just one thing when trying to run Alpine based image every
image I checked from *4.0.2, 4.2.0, 4.3.1* and up to *latest* ships the
*rocksdbjni* jar in /opt/kafka/libs but *has no libstdc++* . You can easily
reproduce it by:
{code:java}
docker run -d --name kafka-rocksdb-repro apache/kafka:4.3.1
docker exec kafka-rocksdb-repro /opt/kafka/bin/kafka-topics.sh
--bootstrap-server localhost:9092 --create --topic streams-plaintext-input
docker exec kafka-rocksdb-repro timeout 45 /opt/kafka/bin/kafka-run-class.sh
org.apache.kafka.streams.examples.wordcount.WordCountDemo{code}
So any streams app with RocksDB store fails with:
{code:java}
...
ERROR stream-client [streams-wordcount-...] Encountered the following exception
during processing and the registered exception handler opted to SHUT...
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /tmp/librocksdbjni....so: Error loading shared
library libstdc++.so.6: No such file or directory
...{code}
The simpliest solution would be to add libstdc++ into docker/jvm/Dockerfile.
Probably also worth also checking native image.
