Guozhang Wang commented on KAFKA-2834:
--------------------------------------

The normal pattern of merging should wait for the PR tests to complete and
succeed (currently it only contains unit tests, but moving forward we may add a
subset of integration tests as well). But today Jenkins it piling up all jobs
and hence people tend to not wait on that. I think after the 0.9.0.0 release we
should stick to the pattern to wait Jenkins to succeed before merging, and
tries to see if we can speed up the Jenkins queuing as well. I feel it is more
helpful than letting the merge scripts running the tests locally.

> kafka-merge-pr.py should run unit tests before pushing it to trunk
