[~anyun] I can confirm [~omkreddy]'s analysis on this having experienced this 
issue myself. 
Please modify your broker config in {{server.properties}} and specify a 
permanent location for the setting {{log.dirs}}.

Example: {{log.dirs=/var/opt/kafka-logs}}
