We have seen several test failures in integration tests due to threads being
left behind because brokers, producers or ZooKeeper clients haven't been closed
properly in tests. Add a check so that these failures can be caught sooner
since transient failures caused by port reuse or update of static JAAS
configuration are much harder to debug.
