My karaf debian package has been upgraded to 4.3.6: https://steinar.bang.priv.no/2018/01/23/installing-apache-karaf-on-debian/comment-page-1/#comment-15843 In addition to the karaf version upgrade, I have un-embedded the OSGi framework and is using the debian packaged OSGi framework, since that is currently version 7.0.0 in debian stable. (I had to start embedding the OSGi framework when upgrading karaf to 4.3.x, since the debian packaged OSGi framework back then, was 6.0.0).
