No, you're not missing anything. I fixed a bug regarding a NPE in the
OidcProfile:

It looks like it's the problem. I didn't test OpenID Connect in Knox, but had
this issue with OpenID Connect in Undertow (which also uses Java serialization).
Can you upgrade to pac4j v1.8.3 I released a few days ago? I successfully
tested CAS authentication using this new version (all 1.8.x versions are
backward compatible).
