Larry McCay commented on KNOX-670:
----------------------------------

This is a great step!

A couple areas of concern:

* I'd like to be able to mix applications and services. For instance, having a
cluster descriptor with all of its services and a testpage app for those
exposed services would make sense. Also, an app like knoxplorer that needs to
know which topology to direct requests to could have it injected by the gateway
via exposure through topologies for a given cluster.
"gateway/sandbox/knoxplorer/index.html" implies that it is for the sandbox
topology. This also allows for the exclusion of webhdfs browsing by not adding
knoxplorer to a topology.
* Some pages will need to not require authentication. It may be arguable that
most do not but their consumption of Hadoop resources through the gateway will.

I will be checking out this patch though and think that the potential is really
great for this feature!

> I think that we need the ability to serve up arbitrary web app resources.
> Given a conf/applications along side conf/topologies, we should be able to
> spin up a simple application that can be used as a central login facility
> with KnoxSSO, a management UI or any number of simple applications.
