Thanks Paul for bringing up this discussion.

I talked with some Flink users offline, seems Flink 1.16 is not a widely 
adopted version, I also checked the Aliyun Flink product release notes[1], and 
only Flink 1.13, 1.15, and 1.17 are supported.

I’m +1 on marking Flink 1.16 deprecated in Kyuubi 1.9, and dropping it in the 
next release.
