sometimes you can try to get an overview of the wordcounts by looking at
the various CWS with UI and Help translation relevant content. I've done
a quick search with target 3.0 but it seems that the wordcounts are
still missing.

Phew, I think no one can even estimate that with a complete overview.
If really needed you could try to ask on the dev@ or [EMAIL PROTECTED]'s
mailing lists, individual developers might share their insight for
features they know they'll be working on. However, I doubt the outcome
would be statistically relevant..

Well, maybe a thousand to a few thousands? If counting help content that
would be much more though.
