Ultimately I'd wish for a screen under the Admin tab that lists all
the documents currently locked (and the locker's name and date
locked). That page could have controls for forced unlocking of any of
the documents listed.
OK - I added the column to the SiteOverview usecase. You can't apply
a filter yet (so you always see all documents, not only the checked-out
ones).

Just to follow up on this topic... Did Jann's code get checked in? I
think Jann was also going to update the
http://wiki.apache.org/lenya/HowToDefaultPublicationUsefulChanges wiki
page with instructions on this approach. I'm patient, but I didn't
want this to be forgotten.
I did check in a "forcecheckin" usecase in the lenya-1.2.x branch. It is
available in the SiteArea->Edit->Checkin.
The solution in lenya-trunk might be different because there is a session
listener and the system is aware of all open sessions. Having this
information it will be possible to allow/disallow a checkin depending on
a existing session of the user which locks the file.
I will try to implement such a feature in lenya-1.4 too. However that
might take some time becasue we have some other problems (performance :-(
) which have to be solved first.
