i have some experience with video streaming (been helping with the live webcast of the linux audio conferences in the last couple years), so i could set up a live ogg theora stream for remote participants if the hackathon location has a broadband uplink. any other people interested?
the back channel could be irc, maybe with a projector in the hackathon room that shows the channel log as an extra bonus.
