AFAIR it was just a single sentence mentioning that the user interface can't compete with the "more modern" approaches of other CMSs.

I can't answer these questions either, that's why I added the quotation marks ...

I have been doing
partial webpage updates using a CORBA Applet since 1996 and AJAX since
1999; are partial updates"modern" now technical expertise is not
required?  Does "outdated" refer to the color scheme now that the 216
"Web safe colors" limit is mostly forgotten?  Does "modern" ask for
more and better graphics now that bandwidth is not limited to 56
Kbaud?

Technology should perform tasks well.

(I agree to all the mentioned points)

As with the recent Lenya-3 discussion, can we start with
specifications?  What changes will make our customers happy?

That's a good idea. I'll try to help with a little survey with the project manager and users I'm currently in touch with.
