Hi Lenya devs,
at the last user meeting in Freiburg we already considered the move to
Cocoon 2.2. Now that Lenya 2.0 has stabilized and Cocoon 2.2 is not a
moving target anymore, I think it would be a good time to start this
migration.
From my POV the major benefits are:
* Getting up-to-date with the newest developments in Cocoon
* Remove the dependency to Avalon which is discontinued
* Benefit from the Spring framework
* Benefit from the Maven repository model
Felix has already offered to participate in the migration, in fact he
suggested the move. During the next weeks I could spend a couple of
hours per week on this project.
Do you think we should take this step now? Of course it would mean that
everyone would have to make theirselves familiar with a new deployment
model and some new concepts.
If yes, should we create a new branch for 2.0.x and use the trunk for
the Cocoon 2.2 migration? Maybe we could call it Lenya 2.2-dev?
