I see.
I don't agree with your assessment that "VERIFY_SSL_CERT" is a workaround
though. It's a feature, but we discourage users from using it unless they are
totally aware of what they are doing because it has security implications.
Instead of adding this "workaround" I would rather track down the actual root
cause and work on a correct fix.
If you provide more info (e.g. output of LIBCLOUD_DEBUG=/dev/stderr which you
get then an exception is thrown) I can dig in and help you working on a correct
fix.
