While we are discussing words that are missing from the dictionaries I
thought I would add my two cents. As was pointed out, certain types of
words are missing, like medical, biology, etc. It would not make sense
to include these words in the normal dictionaries, but (as seen with the
OED dictionary) it is sometimes difficult to do multiple dictionaries
for the same language. On the subject of biology, even basic words such
as the names of kingdoms do not appear in the en_US dictionary. I think
at least some of the basic biology and medical terms should be included,
but nothing too abstract or specialized though. Would each language
have its own specialized dictionaries? Who would do this?
A short list of biology-related words not found in en_US dictionary:
prokaryotic
Archaebacteria
protista
prokaryotes
By the way, does Mozilla use an Aspell spell checker? It is marking the
same words as misspelled and I could have sworn I saw Aspell in the
install routine.
