Client side is easy and it should provide words from users dictionaries. I would like to provide client with some plug-ins API, so we can use words from Abiword or any other program. But for the same beginning, lets start with OpenOffice.org only. Server side is more complicated, but solvable. We have one table for now which is storing raw words from users. There should be team for each language which will be responsible for words checking, tagging, ... I think that it can be someone from a native-lang team for each language, because we (Czech people) are not going to tag / check / ... French words and vice versa. These teams are voluntary, nothing is / will be mandatory there. We would like to license words under the GNU LGPL / MPL license, so we can use these words for dictionaries in the OpenOffice.org / Mozilla products. If this will be useful and sucessfull, the maintainer of each language dictionary can be someone outside the OpenOffice.org world? (i/a/hun)spell maintainers? Or someone else? Dictionary with new words will be availabe via DicOOo in a common way or it will be a part of the OpenOffice.org suite in the future versions. Our client will not update any existing users dictionary. Our people are interested in this project and they are willing to send some words. I know that the number of words will be small now, but who knows ... I'm asking you, because it sounds like an useful idea for other languages too and I would like to know your opinion. I'm not forcing this idea to anyone, but if we will implement some final solution for us, it will be nice to have solution for each supported language (translation, separate server, different rules, ...). Sounds this as a good project to you? Are you expecting interest from end users? Do you think it will be useful?
