Yep, it doesn't require a restart but I would certainly like to be able to
purge it when required.

If I recall correctly, restarting the server is no longer necessary on MX.
If you uncheck the trusted cache option and then call the page(s) it should
Compile the most recent version. Not sure how you could do this
programmatically. There may be an undocumented way of switching the trusted
cache on/off.
