IIS 5 and 6 are compatible with ColdFusion. Though note that you will not
be able to run IIS6 on Windows XP - it is available only on Windows Server
2003.

When you install ColdFusion it will set its self up automatically to use
whatever IIS version you have but if you need to set it up manually you will
need to register the jrun.dll in the ISAPI connectors for the site you wish
to be parsed by CF Server.

Subject: [CF-Dev] IIS support of Cold Fusion

>- see footer for list info -<
Hello everyone,

I'm taking a Web server design and management course at a local college
here in San Antonio. The server software we're using is Microsoft Internet
Information Server, (IIS) 6.0. Since I have Macromedia Studio MX which
includes what I believe is Cold Fusion Server Software I'd like to know how
one configures IIS to support Cold Fusion, and if this software or some
other module needs to be installed to make this possible.

One of the hosts I use is:
http://www.freecfm.com

A check of the CGI Variables for one of the Websites I have running
there indicates that the version of IIS in use is Microsoft-IIS 5.0. We're
using IIS 6.0 in the class I'm taking. I want to continue using Cold
Fusion, and would like to be able to test interactive components created
with CF locally before uploading them to a server. I'm running Windows XP
home, and understand that it supports IIS 5.0 and 6.0. Once I get IIS
installed what do I do in order to allow it to support Cold Fusion. I'm
also asking for someone who hosts Websites and E-mail Lists for an
organization as I've been encouraging him to consider adding support for
Cold Fusion so we can create Websites for this organization using that
language. I'll look forward to your feedback, and knowing what I need to do
to permit IIS to support Cold Fusion. Thanks in advance.

Peter Donahue
