I do hear you and I feel your pain.  The problem we have here in the UK is
that there are not MM support staff capable of helping with technical
questions (and if you contact MM US direct they point you in the direction
of the UK who contact the US anyway), and like you mentioned, they close the
ticket down with no real resolution....which ALWAYS states reply to it to
reopen, but it never does.  

As for the dll, I believe this is used for Windows 2003 installation / IIS
6.x only.

God I am annoyed with Macromedia today.

I have oepned 3 support tickets trying to resolve these wildcard mapping
problems with IIS6.

Their stupid support staff just decide to close tickets in the middle of a
discussion so that you cannot reply to the emails any longer, and you have
to go and open a new ticket and explain everything all over again to a new
person.

They don't support the community, they don't support their customers, and
they make it very difficult to contact them period. No wonder they lose so
many customers to .NET, ASP and PHP
