client has javascript diabled (which is the case for most of my clients)

If you are uploading very large files via coldfusion, you might also
want to look at using the underlying Java routines available instead
of CFFILE.
visit http://www.informationsavvy.com/coldfusion/
and look at filewriter.cfc and filereader.cfc
You should also see a speed increase.
