Looks to me to be a bit of a 'Hey, look what we did, aren't we clever' bit of kit as opposed to a real usable alternative to the real thing. For a commercial application I'd get the client to cover the cost of licenses for the real thing as opposed to trying to save them a few quid with a cheaper alternative that will inevitably turn round and bite you in the butt when you realise that that one fundamental missing feature is a complete deal killer. For something to muck around with on home machines - astalavista baby!
