I forgot to mention, using a central place for logs, files etc is obviously an issue.
Application Vars should be initialised from a central location too, a XML or whatever. Another J2ee concept which is nice, is .jar replication across the cluster, allowing to drop your code on one box and have it replicated across the cluster. There are loads of other issues surrounding clusters that are not cf/java specific, but have bearing on your app. security certs, or firewalls for example...
